And does that stop you from going to the theater more often?

I have been to shows where there is an announcement made that requires phones to be turned off completely, saying that even if you're on 'vibrate', the light from your phone could disturb both performers and patrons.

But now there is some rumbling from industry insiders that it might be a good idea for businesses to ALLOW cell phones and texting in theaters.

It seems theater chain owners are warming up to the idea of allowing cell phone use in theaters in order to loosen the restrictions that are keeping people from going to the movies as much as they used to.

Survey results show people feel 'handcuffed' because they aren't allowed to call or text while a movie or show is going on, so they'd rather not attend at all instead of having to shut off their phone.

I'll tell you, there have been times when, faced with a two hour kid's movie, I would go nuts if I couldn't sneak a text while I'm stuck next to two popcorn-eating, slurpee drinking kids intent on a big-screen viewing of yet one more Disney flick.

But of course even though it's okay for ME to do it, I get totally annoyed when I hear someone behind me TALKING on their phone.

Has the thought of being out of contact with the world for a couple of hours stopped you from seeing a performance or movie? Are we THAT addicted?! When/where do you find it inappropriate to use your smart phone? Comment below.
