Have you heard about the latest trend that is sweeping the world of athletics, physical rehabilitation and wellness by storm?  We're talking about cryotherapy and if you've never heard of it or just want to learn more information, this is the place for you.

What is Cryotherapy?
Whole body cryotherapy is the evolution of cold therapy. Traditionally in baths are used to provide relief, however whole body cryotherapy takes only 2-3 minutes and is far less uncomfortable due to its shorter duration. The nitrogen vapor that is released in the chamber can range from -160 degrees to -260 degrees depending on the setting.  Cryotherapy provides many benefits, but is ideal for reducing inflammation, pain, muscle soreness & swelling. Other benefits include toning the skin, improving sleep and managing chronic pain.

How Does Cryotherapy Work?
The user stands on an adjustable platform inside an octagonal-shaped chamber with only the head remaining outside the chamber. A technician fills the chamber with nitrogen vapor, which drops the temperature to a range of -160 degrees to -260 degrees fahrenheit, temporarily lowering the temperature of the skin's top layer. Treatment lasts a maximum of 3 minutes. During the process, the skin sends signals to the brain which stimulates physical reactions and activates naturally occurring healing resources. Once out of the chamber, the body immediately reheats.

Who Should Use Cryotherapy and When Should It Be Used?
While cryotherapy is ideal for athletes, cryotherapy can benefit anyone looking to reduce inflammation, reduce muscle soreness, improve skin tone and manage chronic pain.  Cryotherapy can be performed both pre and post workout to enhance preparation and to expedite recovery.
