It’s one of the events that makes Ocean County, home. The 79th Halloween Parade will kick off in Downtown Toms River later on this month. The parade has been running since 1919 and is still an event that draws huge crowds of people from all over the state. In preparation for this big event, here are some quick things that you should know from the Toms River Volunteer Fire Company…

WHEN: The 79th Annual Halloween Parade will kick off on Halloween (Tuesday, Oct. 31st) at 7:00 PM.

PARTICIPANTS: If you are an organization or participant that would like to be in the parade, registration is the same day as the parade from 8:00 AM until 4:00 PM at the firehouse on Robbins Street. While there is no registration fee, donations are welcome.

PARADE ROUTE: The parade will start at the Toms River Shopping Centre on the corner of Route 37 and 166. The parade will then make it’s way down Main Street, turning onto Washington Street and will conclude on the corner of Washington Street and Hooper Avenue.

WHERE TO PARK: Parking for spectators is in the Ocean County Parking Garage on Madison Avenue, between Hooper and Hadley Avenues. Officials say to make sure you are at least 1,000 feet away from the corner of the parade if you plan to park on Main Street. They also remind you not to block any fire hydrants or driveways. There is no parking permitted in the Toms River Shopping Centre.

POSTPONEMENT DAY: Well we certainly hope this doesn’t happen, but if it does the parade will be on Wednesday, November 1st.

TRICK OR TREATING: Trick or treating for Toms River and some surrounding towns will be Monday, October 30th.
