Freedman’s Bakery in Belmar Closes After 60 Years

After serving the Shore at Main Street and Eighth Avenue for 64 years, a Belmar mainstay has shut its doors for good.

Freedman's Bakery's flagship location is no more.

East Coast Beer Co., of Point Pleasant Beach, which produces Beach Haus beer, will transform the former bakery into a year-round microbrewery with plans to open this summer.

There is some good news, however. Freedman’s Bakery sold the recipes for its corn rye bread and Kneip kaiser rolls to Harvest House Bakery in Howell, which shares a similar baking line.

But, it still won't be the same. Freedman's Bakery, you will be missed.
