If you thought gender equality was improving in Hollywood, a study reported in the Miami Herald says you're wrong. According to the report, about 2/3 of the speaking parts in the top 100 grossing films of 2009, including the top film "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen", went to men. It was even worse when it came to writing and directing.

Less than 4% of the directors and just under 14% of the writers were women according to the study. We live in a world where you would think these numbers would improve with each passing year, but the research shows that Hollywood is sadly consistent with these percentages. Do these findings surprise you?
