Back in the spring of 2022 a great white shark named Ironbound cruised by the Jersey Shore and got some people's attention.

The great white seemed to be just swimming by our shores a little over a year ago, but we started to wonder where he might be lurking these days. The great folks at Ocearch make it their business to know things like this.

Ironbound is one of the great white sharks that this organization is able to tag and monitor for as long as the tracking equipment functions.

It turns out that Ironbound has been a busy great white, swimming up and down the east coast. As a matter of fact, he "pinged" in the middle of May of this year.

His most recent ping location will be a relief to those of you who love sharks only from a distance. Ironbound's most recent confirmed location was two months ago off the coast of Georgia.

Of course, like with any other great white, he could go a long way in two months, but at the time Ocearch received the ping, he was heading northbound, so who knows where he could be right now.

Check out these amazing specs on Ironbound. He is an adult great white who is 12 feet 4 inches long and weighs in at almost 1200 pounds.

Ironbound actually "Z-pinged" just days ago, but a "Z-ping" is a ping with no location data, so the big guy can be just about anywhere.
