The fast-food chain has applied for a liquor license at a soon-to-open location in Chicago, according to Nation's Restaurant News.

The layout of this new Taco Bell will be different. It will feature a "completely new urban restaurant design," according to Nation's Restaurant News. Taco Bell plans to open a number of new restaurants with open kitchens.

Why serve booze at Taco Bell? Many are speculating that this is an attempt to compete with rival Mexican eatery Chipotle, where alcohol is already flowing in many locations.
