To me, it was a great weekend to cozy up on the couch and pray we didn't have to evacuate.

After dealing with the crowds snatching up the last gallons of water at the stores on Friday, with the 50 mph winds blowing rain into my face, I managed to find a parking spot at the grocery store and load up my cart with enough non-perishables to last us should the power go out.

When I finally made it home, it was so dark and windy and rainy, and there were so many flood warnings, that I couldn't think of anything other than getting into warm, dry clothes, preparing the flashlights, putting important items up on higher shelves, and preparing to evacuate should the flooding get too severe.

It was quite scary, living on a street that was already destroyed once by Sandy, knowing the severe threat of having water on three sides of us and what that could mean.

Grateful to still have power despite the mega winds, the boys and I spent most of the weekend curled up on the couch watching movies, venturing out to take photos of the massive waves and beach erosion leaving the boardwalk buried in sand.

We also went to the Point Pleasant side of the Manasquan Inlet during high tide on Saturday (along with about a thousand others that had the same idea) to see how the ocean waves were invading the inlet, pushing the water over the walls and leaving those giant fishing boats bobbing up and down and looking like they'd end up in the parking lot if the water rose any further.

We found it the perfect day to grab some warm and delicious lobster bisque and clam chowder from a local seafood restaurant (Spikes -- yum).

Then...back home to the warm, inviting couch. In fact, I was a little upset Sunday afternoon when the sun decided to make an appearance. I mean, once I settled in for storm weekend, the last thing I wanted to do was to see the sun shining.

Weird, right?

What did you do on this stormy weekend?
