It's hard to believe that The View has been on TV for 16 years.

The cast has seen several shake-ups since the original debuted in 1997, and it's about to change again.

Comedian Joy Behar has announced she is leaving the show after her contract ends in August.

Behar is the only original panel member aside from the show's creator, Barbara Walters.

At one time she had a show on HLN, and now hosts 'Joy Behar: Say Anything!' on Al Gore's Current TV. That show is expected to end, as Al-Jazeera bought out the network, with plans to change it to Al-Jazeera America.

Say what you will about 'The View,' I always kind of liked it. I thought Behar was funny, and combined with Whoopi Goldberg and Sherri Shepherd, their commentary always made me laugh.

The show has gone in many different directions over the years, but the current cast is one of my favorites.

Behar told Deadline she was leaving to pursue other things, saying, 'There are other things on my plate I want to do. I’ve been writing a play, I’ve been neglecting my standup.'

It'll be interesting to see how the show changes after this.
