Legendary Broadway Diner in Red Bank Closes
A local diner, an institution depending on who you ask, has closed its doors.
Red Bank's Broadway Diner has closed, seemingly without warning. (Seriously, Duzzy and I walked past it yesterday and it was bustling with people.)
Red Bank Green reports that, 'The Monmouth Street eatery ended an 18-year run owning to the death of one of its owners, Bob Russo, and a restructuring of the business.'
The small bit of good news?
The diner will reopen as a new restaurant. The Russo family owns Toast, the brunch favorite in Asbury Park (and Montclair) and plans to transition the space and open Toast Red Bank over the next 8 weeks.
Still, I'm sad about the diner's closing...I spent many a late night there chewin' on disco fries and bacon...and plenty of weekends trying to decide which type of pancakes to get.
