Here's how you can help a family who is going through a tragic struggle. These 6 kids are young and their mom (whose life has touched many in both Monmouth and Ocean Counties) is in her final battle with cancer and on hospice.

Lori McBride was a healthy, active mom three years ago. She was a marathon runner, a public school Spanish teacher in Eatontown, she taught English as a second language to immigrants in the Asbury Park school system, and she was a Girl Scout leader in Spring Lake Heights, where she and her family live.

Her husband, Kerry, is working full time, trying to take care of Lori and all the kids (including triplets). He is the owner of McBride Awning in Point Pleasant.

Three years ago, Lori was diagnosed with breast cancer. She had multiple rounds of chemo and radiation. But the cancer spread to her brain and spine. Her treatments were not successful and now she is terminal and on hospice. Her kids are 15, 13, 13, 13 (the triplets), and 10.

Lori has now become blind due to the neurological damage and is unable to speak. She is bedridden.

Friends and family are asking you to come together as a community and help this family with the cost of medical bills and raising the kids.

This Saturday, April 23rd, from 1 pm - 7 pm, a benefit will be held at Reef and Barrel (formerly Edgars) in Manasquan, 153 Sea Girt Avenue. There will be a gift basket auction, 50/50, and several door prizes. Bands playing include Bad Apples, Los Gringos, and Bones of Lay Low Jones.( I have even heard rumors that there could possibly be a special appearance by Quincy Mumford...) Tickets are $25 each at the door and include food and one drink.

You can go directly to Reef and Barrel to make a donation even if you can't attend. For more info, call 732-449-4114.
