Recent Report Says New Jersey Is Among America’s Best States For Working Moms
Mother’s Day is right around the corner and we love to celebrate moms all over the Garden State, and according to a recent report, New Jersey is a pretty great state for working moms to be in.
The report was published by WalletHub, and it takes into account a lot of different factors, such as our state’s unemployment rate, level of daycare, and many other factors.
It turns out one of the strongest factors in the study that benefitted the Garden State is work-life balance. In that category, New Jersey ranks a very solid #8. But it’s not the only category we do well in.
The parental leave policy score in New Jersey is also a very powerful number. We rank 4th in the nation in that category, and that is really impressive.
The study also reports that New Jersey ranks 17th in the nation for median salary for women, which definitely could be better, but it does put us in the top 20% of the nation.
When all the factors are put together, the study says that the Garden State ranks 8th in the nation for working moms, and even though we’d love to top this list, it’s good to know that we are in a pretty strong position for working moms.
There is one category that we didn’t do as well as many thought we would do. When it came to working opportunities, the Garden State ranks only 22nd, which is not terrible, but hopefully, that stat can improve quickly for New Jersey’s working moms.
For the record, Massachusetts is the #1 state for working moms, placing first in work-life balance and 2nd in child care.
