The New Jersey Department of Transportation is taking the blame for the delays on Route 3 following Saturday night's Taylor Swift concert at MetLife Stadium in the Meadowlands.

55,000 people who attended the New Jersey stop of the "Red" tour last weekend were greeted by a westbound project on the Passaic River Bridge that delayed the ride home because of closed lanes.

"We apologize for any frustration you experienced on Saturday night and, please know, we were just as frustrated," the stadium wrote to ticketholders according to the Star Ledger,  explaining there had been a "miscommunication" between NJDOT and the stadium.

NJDOT spokesman Joe Dee responded by explaining that the project was originally scheduled for the night before but was postponed by rain. ""Could we have adjusted the time that started to better accommodate the fans at that concert?" Dee told the Star Ledger.

"We have been reviewing that, to make sure that doesn’t happen again. ... When we ended up closing the lanes, it was not the optimal time to do so," said Dee.
