NJ MVC Rejects Man’s Atheist Vanity License Plate
Vanity plates are usually pretty entertaining…in fact just the other day Duzzy and I were in a parking lot discussing whether one car’s plate was supposed to say ‘spank one, ”spunky,’ or something else entirely.
The NJ Motor Vehicle Commission often rejects vanity plates for bring ‘offensive,’ which has led one man to file an appeal.
What does David Silverman want his plate to say? ‘ATHE1ST.’
He posted about this incident on Twitter, which led to many outraged responses from his followers.
My vanity “ATHEIST” license plate was just refused by the state. Reason: It’s offensive. #wronganswer

Silverman is President of the group American Atheists, an activist group.
I don’t see the big deal with the plate…why is the word atheist, or the declaration of his (non) beliefs offensive?
Who exactly is it offending?
I’m not an atheist, but I’m in no position to tell anyone else what to think or believe in.
Live and let live, no?
