We asked you to name the road that you most dread driving on at the Jersey Shore. The results are in, and they might surprise you.

I thought that the Garden State Parkway would run away with this one. As a matter of fact, I considered eliminating it as a choice and asking one of those "Besides the Parkway" questions.

But as it turns out, the Garden State Parkway is the second most dreaded road at the Jersey Shore, according to our most recent poll, with 22% of your vote, with Route 70 placing just behind it at #3 with 18% of the votes.

So, what was the road that now has the honor of being the most dreaded road to drive on at the Jersey Shore? That distinction now belongs to Route 9, which received 30% of your votes.

There is no doubt that Route 9 poses traffic hassles in most towns it winds through (Manalapan, Freehold and Lakewood come to mind), but it takes a pretty dreaded road to unseat the Garden State Parkway, and this year, Route 9 has done just that.

Other roads that were mentioned but did not make the top three were Route 37 and Route 35 (each getting 8%) and Route 36 and 195 (with 4% each).
