Punxsutawney Phil Should Try To Keep His Customers Happy
I usually like when men are right. No, that’s inaccurate. I usually like it when I’m right. As for Punxsutawney Phil, I don’t have many nice things to say right now.
Not only was Phil right this time, predicting 7 more months of snow (or something like that), but the prediction came true the next day. Thanks a lot Phil. I started thinking about Phil’s job and just how fragile the whole thing is.
So here’s what I want to say to Phil. I like you Phil. You’re cute, really cute. We all know that we have computer models and radar and satellite and Alan Kasper, but we still like you. It’s an adorable tradition and we want it to stay that way. But please Phil, think of your customers!
We’re all willing to wake up each Groundhog Day and hold our collective breath waiting for your big decision. We bypass all the technology we have and take your word for it. But let’s not forget, you should always try to keep your customers happy. And the customers want spring.
Come on Phil…have you seen our weather lately? You knew what we wanted. You knew what we needed. And you didn’t deliver. It’s showbiz Phil! Give the people what they want!
