How many times have you been to Monmouth Mall? Did you know that there's an amazing organization that is headquartered on the basement level of the mall, next to mall management? Time to learn about SCAN.

SCAN stands for Social Community Activities Network. SCAN has been providing continuing education for active adults since 1988. Their courses include art, computers, technology, digital photography, fitness, health, languages, history, music, TV production, finance and more.

Membership is open to anyone 50 or over. There are no residency or income requirements. Anyone can take advantage of SCAN's classes for a fee.

When I went to visit SCAN, I met with Executive Director Pat Bohse and Program Director Andrea Tarr. During my tour there was an Italian language course and fitness class happening. Then I was a guest on "Community Connections" hosted by Tom Hayes, VP of Customer and Community Relations at New Jersey Natural Gas. The entire episode was taped at the SCAN facilities in their amazing TV production studio.

Thanks to Charlie Burke and the SCAN TV production staff for showing me around. It's amazing what's happening below the Monmouth Mall in Eatontown!
