These two dogs never even got to socialize with people. But they have been rescued by the Monmouth County SPCA and are ready for a good home.

Whitney and Penny, originally from the south, came to the MCSPCA from a foster hoarding situation where they never ever got to socialize with humans. So sad. When they arrived at the MCSPCA they were so shy and shut down that they wouldn't even approach people.

Luckily, a wonderful foster family, who has lots of patience and experience with shy dogs, took them in and allowed them to stay together as they embarked on their journey to learn to trust people.

Whitney and Penny are sisters who love each other very much. Whitney is the shyer of the two. Penny is a little more outgoing but still very shy, especially with new people. But the two have made a lot of progress, even though they still have moments of fear when they meet strangers on the street.

These two Point Pets of the Week look like they might be Basset Hound mixes since their legs are short. They are each about a year old, good with other dogs and love to play. They don't necessarily have to be adopted together, but they would do best living with another dog, as well as a very patient family.

Neither Whitney nor Penny have a mean bone in their cute little bodies. If they are nervous, they try to get away or cower. Both girls are learning to become more confident dogs thanks to their canine foster siblings.

If you are interested in meeting either of these sweethearts, please call ahead as they will be staying with their foster mom. They will schedule a meet-and-greet with you.

The MCSPCA is open 7 days a week from Noon to 5 pm. For more info, call 732-542-4552 or email adoptions@monmouthcountyspca.org.
