Summer at the Jersey Shore means a combination of locals and tourists. We appreciate their love for our home, but sometimes it's not easy.

I sat this weekend noting some of the things locals have to adjust to during the summer season, and came up with Summer Poem For Locals. If you live here, you know what I mean. Here it is.

We long to hear the sound of gulls,

We wait for summer waves to crash,

Now just getting in the car for milk,

Is a humungous pain in the dash.

We love our waterfront restaurants,

Like scenes out of a fable,

But when we get there,

Some guy from New York is sitting at our table.

On the road, the guy from out of state,

Blasts his tunes until we're deaf.

And then he gets on 35,

And tries to make a left.

A reminder to tourists this summer,

About words like car, shore, and bar .

They're all words used this season,

And they all end with the letter "r".

For all that we put up with in summer,

There's no doubt the Jersey Shore rocks.

But one reminder to our beach going guests,

Please take off your socks.
