In a community where suicide has been chosen by far too many high school students (even one would have been too many), the Samaritan Center at the Jersey Shore is holding a positive event for sixth graders and up.

It's Yahoo (You Always Have Other Options) Surf Jam 2012 on Friday, May 18th, 6 - 10 pm at Manasquan High School for any students and young adults in Monmouth County and the surrounding area. And it's free.

Cari Fletcher (who competed on Simon Cowell's X Factor) will be performing, along with music by Project P.A.C.K.M.A.N.

The guest speaker is a man named Cameron Clapp who, when he was a teenager, made a terrible choice that could have left him dead. He is now a young inspirational speaker who will share his heartbreaking story and the valuable insight and lessons he has learned.

There will be food, prizes, fun, athletes on hand, information on surfing and other positive activities to help teens, pre-teens, and young adults choose quality summertime options.

The event will also remind your children that there are things they can do to reach out for help for themselves or a friend. That they can make the right choices. That there is help and they are never alone. And that suicide is NOT an option.

No registration necessary. Just show up and be a part of this amazing event.
