A Surprise Boardwalk Performance in Asbury Park

On Friday night, Switchfoot and Needtobreathe played The Stone Pony Summer Stage in Asbury Park. After the show, I walked back to the boardwalk and noticed a huge crowd. 

Jon Foreman, the lead singer and guitarist for Switchfoot decided to do his encore standing on a bench on the boardwalk with the waves crashing in the background. You know Switchfoot from their hits "Dare You To Move" and "Meant To Live."

It was a really cool scene. Solo and armed with an unplugged guitar and harmonica, Jon said to the AP crowd that since we were hanging at the beach, he had to play one of his favorite Beach Boys songs, "God Only Knows."

As you'll see and hear in the video, the crowd quickly joined in. It was awesome to be a part of one of those "only in Asbury Park" kind of moments.
