With our beaches weeks away from being overrun, I caught word of a "secret beach" not too many in Monmouth and Ocean counties are aware of...until now.
Gateway National Recreation Area will reopen the Sandy Hook Unit to the public for the first time since Hurricane Sandy beginning Wednesday, May 1. A ceremony at 10 A.M. will mark the reopening.

We all know somebody who reminded us on Memorial Day weekend just how quickly summer would go by. We didn't want to hear it then, but whoever said it was right. We're closing the book on Summer 2012 here at the Jersey Shore.
The days at the Shore are getting shorter. It was just this week that I started to notice it was getting dark earlier. Before you know it we'll be "falling back an hour." But why do we "spring ahead" in the first place?
I went to the store Sunday morning in my shorts and flip-flops. I needed to pick some things up for a Labor Day celebration. I had to work my way past all the Halloween stuff. Something's not right about that
I love pumpkin-flavored goodies -- breads, scones, muffins, soups, and even pumpkin spice lattes (which, no, don't have any real pumpkin in them, just 'pumpkin spice' flavors which are basically cinnamon, clove, and allspice.)
Normally I'm pretty pumped for the first taste of orange-y goodness. Not this time.
Another summer is on its way out...what are some of the things we'll have to say goodbye to for a while?
