Now that Memorial Day weekend is here and you're breaking out the grill, here are some reminders from the experts on what makes for a great burger (and what could lead you straight to the ER.)

I know you don't consider yourself an amateur barbecue chef but it can't hurt to be reminded  of how to get a great, juicy burger.

--- Put the ground beef in a bowl and sprinkle evenly with salt.

--- Don't overwork the meat. It's not Play-Doh. Gently form the meat into patties.

--- This next step is very important: You want to make a shallow indentation in the center of the patty so that the burger doesn't bulge.

--- Once the burger is on the grill, cook it on one side until it's browned and then flip it over ONLY ONCE. And whatever you do, don't press down on the burger. Doing this loses all of its juices. (Yahoo)

And by the way, be careful when you scrub the grill clean with a wire bristle brush. Because one guy from NJ just had to have emergency surgery after eating a steak he had bbq'd on the grill. A metal piece of bristle from the grill scrub brush got embedded first in his burger and then in his LARGE INTESTINE, puncuturing a hole in it! (AP News)
