Toms River Police have made an arrest in their investigation into the church thief who allegedly grabbed cash from a donation box at the Christ Episcopal Church on Washington Street and fled September 4.

The alleged suspect has been identified as 22-year old Vincent Passalacqua following his Wednesday arrest this week at his residence in the Pine Rest Motel on Route 37.

Passalacqua was caught on church surveillance footage breaking into the church donation box.

He is being charged with burglary and theft by unlawful taking and remains in the Ocean County Jail on a no bail warrant.

"We want to thank the citizens who took the time to respond to our request for identification," Toms River Township Police Spokesman Ralph Stocco said in a release. "They were instrumental in the apprehension of Passalacqua."
