My favorite time of year begins the day after Labor Day and depending on the season can last well into September. We're talkin' "Local Summer." Here are 5 reasons why it rocks.

    Less Traffic

With Local Summer comes a little more breathing room on the GSP and coastal routes. I say a little more because as long as it's a beach day, there will be Shore traffic.

Even neighborhood traffic is better after Labor Day!

    Perfect Weather...Sometimes

I add the "sometimes" disclaimer because September can be a very unpredictable month when it comes to Mother Nature. However, September can bring us some of the best weather all year. You know, sunny and 80 with low humidity. Perfect.

You Can Find a Spot on the Beach!

This would probably be a good time to thank our summer visitors to the Jersey Shore. Most of us appreciate you. The least we can ask for is a month of nice real estate on the sand.

    Parking

One has to understand that finding parking at the Jersey Shore any time of the year is painfully difficult. Summertime at the beach? Forget about it. When "Local Summer" rolls around, we actually have a chance to find that elusive spot that's not 5 miles from the beach.

We Can Get a Table at Our Favorite Restaurant or Beach Bar

Props to our visitors for finding all of the hot spots to grab a drink or meal by the beach. For those of us at the Shore who live here all year, we prefer not to wait 3 hours for a table.
