This is definitely amazing news.

The American Kennel Club Reunite, the largest non-profit pet identification and recovery service provider in the US has just unveiled their AKC Pet Disaster Relief trailer for Ocean County.

This trailer will be available to send to any disaster scene that needs assistance sheltering pets. This temporary home-base can house at least 65 pets during the first 72 hours a disaster has been declared.

The trailer can also be used as an evacuation location for owners and their pets or as an emergency shelter for displaced pets.

Equipment is set up in the trailer to offer essential medical care on site and includes an AKC Reunite universal microchip scanner, bowls, collars, leashes, fans, cleaning supplies and maintenance items.

This amazing addition is only possible because of an insanely generous donation from the Kennel Club of Philadelphia.

“We are beyond grateful to AKC Reunite and the Kennel Club of Philadelphia for providing us with this life-saving tool for our community,” said Kevin Cooney of the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office. “Our department is now better equipped to help pets and pet owners in the case of a disaster”.

Job well done to everyone at AKC Pet Disaster Relief and the Kennel Club of Philadelphia.

I cannot wait to see this trailer be put to good use.
