Andy Griffith Dead at 86

Actor Andy Griffith has died. He was 86.

USA Today reports he passed away this morning around 7 a.m. at his North Carolina home.

The actor is best known for his role as Sheriff Andy Taylor on the '60s TV series The Andy Griffith Show and for the title role in the series Matlock, where he played a defense attorney from 1986 until 1995.

In 2008, he appeared in a music video with country star Brad Paisley.
