Although last week the city council of Asbury Park voted to resume indoor dining despite the governor's orders, it looks like that won't happen after all.

Governor Murphy, after a report that he attempted to work amicably with the city, filed a court order against Asbury Park when the city said it would allow indoor dining at 25% capacity or a maximum of a combined total of 50 customers and staff (whichever was less.)

So Asbury Park has reversed it's plan to attempt indoor dining at this time and follow the Covid-19 rules set forth by our state to prevent a second wave of the virus.

Tim McLoone was not among the restauranteurs ready to defy the governor's orders. He said there was too much to lose (fines, liquor license) and is respectful of following the state's law. His Robinson Ale House and The Iron Whale will both open for outdoor dining today.

Several other restaurants also weren't feeling ready to open for indoor dining.

On the bright side, outdoor dining is allowed starting today around our state, so Asbury Park restaurants which are capable and able will be allowed to open with outdoor seating.

Stay tuned for details about exciting plans that Asbury Park has to close down a street or two to vehicles to allow for more outdoor dining!
