It took a great charity to get me into a Zumba class....but now I'm glad I went. For all those girls out there who think they're not good enough to do Zumba....think again and come join me!

I have always taken the standard cardio, step, and strength-training classes at my gym, but never would step foot in a Zumba class because to look at it from the outside, I assumed you needed to be a great (or at least decent) dancer. Boy was I wrong! The fabulous instructor (Amanda at The Atlantic Club), when I told her it was my first time, introduced me to someone who comes every week who I could stand next to since I felt so alone and fearful of disrupting the class since I'm a beginner (thanks, Sue!). But what I didn't realize is that Zumba-goers come in all shapes, sizes, fitness levels, experience levels, and ages. And many of them didn't know a thing about dancing until they took their first class. Zumba is about moving your body like you're dancing for fun, and it's like one giant party. It is literally the first time I've ever smiled and laughed my way through a workout, all the while pretending I had J-Lo moves! I would encourage anyone that can't take one more minute of boredom on the treadmill to take a Zumba class and watch an hour go by in what feels like a minute.

I invite you to join me for a morning of fun that you will never forget at Zumbathon, a charity event at Asbury Park's Convention Hall on Saturday, January 21st. It's being led by top Zumba instructor (yes, the girl from Wii Fit Zumba) Kass Martin (the one in this picture!) and one hundred percent of the proceeds will go to ALS research and families that have been impacted by ALS (Lou Gerhig's Disease). Even if you've never tried Zumba and are new to it like I am, you will not only help those in need, but kickstart a new workout that will totally motivate you! Register now at www.clubsforthequest.com and let's have some fun together!
