Discount Retail Chain With 27 New Jersey Locations Closing Stores
Here comes another round of closures. Another nationwide retailer, with several stores in New Jersey, is planning to close even more stores later this year.
They already closed 52 locations last year with another 35 to 40 stores expected to close in 2024, according to reports.
Sadly, it's a growing trend across the country.
Several well-known stores and restaurants that have been around for decades have announced closures in recent months including Walgreens, Red Lobster, CVS, Rite Aid, Macy's, and Stop & Shop just to name a few.
Now there's another store to add to the list.

Big Lots Plans to Close Stores in 2024
Big Lots plans to close several stores this year with reports saying that the retailer may even go bankrupt and it's all due to inflation.
According to the New York Post, "The Big Lots report said “elevated inflation” has put a damper on customers’ “buying power” – resulting in big losses for the company and “substantial doubt” about its ability to continue operations."
The article went on to state, "The retailer has been steadily losing money and relying on dwindling cash since 2022, the report said, raising concerns of bankruptcy."
Big Lots is that store I can get lost in for hours. They sell everything there. You can get a new couch and cereal all in one store. Plus, they have clothing, electronics, toys, and lots of other things.
The discount retail chain has 27 stores in New Jersey located in Barnegat, Beverly, Brick, Cape May, Cape May Courthouse, Cherry Hill, Clifton, Dover, East Brunswick, Freehold, Glassboro, Hamilton, Jersey City, Lumberton, Mays Landing, Middletown, Millville, North Bergen, Ocean, Phillipsburg, Sicklerville, Somers Point, South Plainfield, Toms River, Union, West Deptford, and Woodbridge.
No word yet on whether or not any of the Big Lot stores in New Jersey will close. Hopefully not.
