A Brick man who has a prior conviction for possession of child porn has admitted to committing the same heinous act again.

Acting U.S. Attorney Rachael A. Honig announced on Tuesday that 34-year old Andrew Ramey has plead guilty to possessing thousands of images and videos that depict child sexual abuse and because he is a repeat offender, he faces 10-20 years in prison.

Ramey had been accused of downloading and sharing such images via the 'BitTorrent Network' which is a peer-to-peer file-sharing network, Honig said between March and June of 2020.

His conduct drew the attention of law enforcement who used investigative software to access the network and learned he had downloaded files through his IP address at his home.

The residence was searched on November 13, 2020 and law enforcement seized several of his phones which ended up having thousands of videos and images of child sexual abuse on them along with the BitTorrent software.

Ramey's 2018 convection on one count of possession of child porn has led to the larger sentence this time around of 10-20 that also goes with a fine of $250,000, Honig said, "or twice the gross pecuniary gain or loss, whichever is greater."

The government is represented by Assistant U.S. Attorney Alexander E. Ramey of the U.S. Attorney’s Office Criminal Division in Trenton.

Defense counsel: Lisa J. Van Hoeck Esq., Assistant Federal Public Defender, Trenton.
