Popular New Jersey Mall Has New Chaperone Policy For Minors
The days of dropping your teenager off at this New Jersey mall on a Saturday night and picking them up hours later are over.
A new chaperone policy, which took effect this past Saturday, April 5th, mandates that visitors under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian 21 or older on Saturdays after 4 pm, or whenever the policy is in effect.

According to a statement on the mall's website, the new policy is to "provide a secure and family-friendly shopping environment."

The Courier Post reports that the new policy comes into effect just weeks after a fight involving teenagers occurred at the mall.
Mall security personnel will be responsible for enforcing the new policy by monitoring those entering the shopping center, with parents or guardians responsible for the actions of those they're chaperoning.
According to the Cherry Hill Mall website, "Proof of age will be required if the age of the youth and/or parent or legal guardian is not easily determined. Those whose age cannot be determined and who lack identification will be asked to leave the property."
If you're wondering what about all of the teenagers who work at the mall, they'll be allowed to come and go without a parent or legal guardian, but they'll have to carry proof that they do indeed work there.
The new policy went into effect this past Saturday, but it's important to know that dates and times can change at any time.
