A man from Clark Township, Union County is facing a possible 20-years in prison and paying up a hefty fine after admitting to robbing a bank in the New Jersey borough of Rutherford last year.

U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger announced on Tuesday that 43-year old Seneca Wilson,  pleaded guilty to an indictment charging him with one count of bank robbery.

The bank heist orchestrated by Wilson took place nearly a year ago to the date of his guilty plea in court, on April 7 of 2021.

It was around 4:12 pm that afternoon that Attorney Sellinger said that Wilson walked into the Kearny Bank located in Rutherford and handed the teller a note demanding money and specifying that he wanted money with no straps on the bills.

Wilson gave the teller a white plastic bag and the teller then placed nearly $2,300 dollars in United States cash into that bag.

When Wilson had the $2,300 in cash in the white plastic bag, he walked out of the Kearny Bank in Rutherford.

Following his arrest, and now guilty plea to the bank robbery, Wilson could possibly receive a sentence on August 16, 2022, of 20-years maximum in prison and then have to pay a $250,000 fine.

The government is represented by Assistant U.S. Attorney Benjamin Levin of the U.S. Attorney’s Office National Security Unit in Newark.

Defense counsel: Michael N. Pedicini Esq., Chatham, New Jersey.
