We experience flooding on Jersey roads all of the time. It's not too often that it happens on the Parkway, though.

Luckily, most of the Jersey Shore was spared from the torrential rains that moved across the state Wednesday night. North Jersey was not so lucky.

According to RLS Media, Irvington Township firefighters responded to roughly a dozen rescue calls that lasted over two hours. Downpours flooded the southbound land of the Parkway near exit 143 and left some drivers stranded.

Firefighters waded through water up to their knees to aid motorists stuck in the left lanes of the southbound Parkway. It's being reported that the 143 off-ramp was flooded with two to three FEET of water.
