Manchester Police said that the dump truck, driven by 33-year old Jason Veloso of Rahway, turned onto Route 547 around 6:54 am Tuesday from a property along that highway and as he did the rear open-box bed was partially opened.

That open-box bed then struck power lines that crossed the roadway and as the 2000 Kenworth dump truck and power lines hit each other it caused some tension which resulted in the utility pole nearby breaking down and falling on top of the dump truck.

Veloso did not sustain any injuries from the crash and police added that he was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the collision.

The investigation continues but Manchester Police said that at this point, driver error appears to be the primary contributing factor.
