Egg Harbor Township, NJ man seriously injured after bike moves in front of vehicle on Black Horse Pike
An Egg Harbor Township man is at AtlantiCare Hospital in Atlantic City being treated and evaluated for serious injuries suffered when he was hit while riding his bike on the Black Horse Pike on Monday afternoon.
Egg Harbor Police said they responded around 2:36 pm to the intersection between the Black Horse Pike and Uibel Avenue.
Through their preliminary investigation, police learned that 50-year old Dana Sessoms of Atlantic City was driving eastbound on the Black Horse Pike in a 2012 GMC Terrain when suddenly, 18-year old Andrew Gonzalez rode his bike from the shoulder to the roadway and right in front of the vehicle.
The impact of being hit by the GMC Terrain in the fast lane of travel on the Black Horse Pike, police said, sent Gonzalez off of his bike and to the ground.
While Gonzalez was transported to the AtlantiCare Hospital for serious injuries, Sessoms and her passengers were uninjured.
The Monday afternoon crash remains under investigation by Egg Harbor Township Police Officers Nicolas Poletis, Robert Moran, and Edward Stearns of the Department's Traffic Safety Unit.
