Finally: Ground is Broken for Lincroft Tavern
It was the home of the Lincroft Inn, a staple until it was demolished. That was a sad day. Here's what's replacing it.
In Lincroft near Brookdale Community College, at the Intersection of Newman Springs Road and Middletown Lincroft Road, you will now see a giant dune of dirt and a gaping hole in the ground. Work is underway!
And it's happening at a site that has been sorely lacking since the loss of a the beloved Lincroft Inn. And the fear that another convenience store, drug store or bank would be built, despite promises that wouldn't happen.
So I am thrilled to find out that what's being built will be the Lincroft Tavern. And a rendering of the new building looks really cool...like a throwback to the 1800s with lots of wood and white brick. Parts of the stone foundation and some of the original beams will even be integrated into the new structure.
It will actually be two joined buildings. The bar will seat 88 around it, the restaurant will hold 264, and the upper floors of both buildings will be for private parties. And it will even have a wine room. From hot wings to lobster and filet mignon, the restaurant will have lots of delicious food choices.
But it could take a while for it to open....they are just in the beginning stages of what could be an 18 month project.
It's pretty cool to know that since the 1600s this site is believed to have always held some sort of lodge or eatery...a stop along the way for stagecoach travelers heading from Lakewood to NYC!!! Let the history-making continue.
I am looking forward to seeing this location come back to life.
