Early Morning Fire at Monmouth Restaurant
A multi-alarm fire burned a restaurant in Ocean Township early Wednesday morning.
The fire broke out around 4:30 a.m. at the Posillipo restaurant on Route 35, northbound, according to Ocean Township Police.
The establishment was formally a Mexican restaurant called Los Caminos De Don Chucho, the Asbury Park reported.
ABC 7 reports renovations were underway at the restaurant. A picture in the Asbury Park Press shows the Posillipo name on a sign hanging on the outside.
Ocean Township Police Lt. Kevin Faller tells the newspaper that an officer responded to find the building completely engulfed with flames coming out of the roof. The Monmouth County Fire Marshall's Office says the building completely damaged and is conducting an investigation into the fire.
Ocean Police say there were no injuries.
Route 35 was completely closed northbound between Deal Road and West Park Avenue as firefighters remain on scene according to New Jersey Fast Traffic but the right lane is now open.
