Game Over! Entertainment Retail Giant Shuttering Stores in New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania
The last few years have been brutal for the retail industry as companies decide to scale back on physical stores.
It's a shame. For a long time, these brick-and-mortar shops have been a big part of our lives and the community.

With the popularity of online shopping continuing to grow and shoppers' behaviors continuing to evolve, the future is not looking bright for some of our favorite retailers.
While the ability to pick up just about anything with one click on Amazon is a significant factor in the decline of retail, the economy isn't helping.
Rent has become higher for many companies. Couple that with less demand from shoppers, and you've got a perfect storm.
Retail isn't totally doomed, however.
Companies continue to reinvent themselves to stay alive.
Many stores adopt a hybrid approach where shoppers get a better in-store and online experience.

Why are GameStop stores closing?
GameStop used to be a place where gamers could get the latest and greatest. Sadly, now they're just not necessary.
Thanks to "digital gaming," players can now access any game without leaving home.
Digital gaming is the process of downloading games directly from online platforms like Steam, PlayStation Store, and Xbox Live.
This trend has significantly reduced foot traffic to GameStop stores, which have always relied on selling physical games, consoles, and accessories.
GameStop has tried to stop the bleeding by introducing "experiences" like in-store gaming events, but it seems that was just not enough.
