Martha Stewart recently shared on a podcast the name her grandkids use for her. It's not Grandmom or Grammy, it's simply Martha.

Yes, they call her by her first name!

It got me thinking about what the most popular grandparent names are in each state.

Do most grandparents go by more traditional names, or do they go by something a little more unique?

It was Grandmom and Grandpop for both sets of my grandparents, and my kids call my mom Grandmom and my husband's mom Grammy.

What Do Kids Call Their Grandparents?

Chicco conducted a survey, and based on 2,500 respondents, found that Grandma remains the number one name across America.

However, there are some "close competitors," according to the report.

Here in New Jersey and the Northeast, Nana is very popular. It's also a go-to in the Midwest and the West.

Overall, the most popular grandfather name across the country is Grandpa, but in the Northeast, Pop or PopPop are the two go-to names.

According to the report,

As it turns out, grandparents are often the authors of their own titles, with 38.41% choosing their grandparent name themselves.

It went on to say,

Following closely behind are the grandchildren themselves. Nearly 30% (29.59%) of grandparents let the little ones decide for them, explaining why some grandmas and grandpas end up with unique or adorable names that only a child could think up.
