Six Flags Great Adventure had hoped its latest extreme ride would be open in time for Memorial Day Weekend, but unfortunately Mother Nature had other plans.

Zumanjaro: Drop of Doom, officially the world's tallest drop ride, sits under the tracks of Kingda Ka. It brings riders 41 stories into the air, and drops them straight down back to Earth.

After the rough winter, followed by a Spring full of high winds and lots of rain, it's been tough for the construction crew to get all of their work done.

GA President John Fitzgerald hopes to have the ride open in early June, and to have an announcement on the official opening day in the next couple of weeks.

The park is currently open on weekends, and will be open daily starting May 22.
