Halloween Spending In New Jersey Is Decreasing This Year
Halloween spending takes a hit as rising costs impact New Jersey budgets.
With everything being so expensive nowadays, it should be no surprise that people aren't spending as much on Halloween this year as in previous years.
When you factor in costumes, candy, and decorations, it adds up fast!
The costume alone will cost you a lot of money, and even if you make it the supplies aren't cheap either.
Plus, if you get the "good candy" everyone loves, like Reese's Peanut Butter Cups and Snickers, that's not cheap! And forget about the full-size candy bars, that's really going to cost you!

How Much Are People Spending on Halloween This Year?
The National Retail Federation found in a recent survey conducted by Prosper Insights & Analytics, that people will spend an average of $103.63 on Halloween this year compared to last year.
The Courier Post states, "Many consumers are dealing with “inflation hangover of higher baseline prices on everything from rent or mortgage payments to insurance to key food categories,” said Mary Brett Whitfield, who heads shopper insights at the Manhattan-based market research company Kantar."
She went on to say in an email, “This makes spending on discretionary goods — including spending on many Halloween categories — tougher to justify.”
Last year people spent $108.24 with a $4.61 difference which may not seem like a lot, but 5 bucks here and 5 bucks there...it adds up!
