Full disclosure: I HATE doing laundry. It is the bane of my existance. In fact, I have been known to go out and buy something new just to avoid doing laundry for another day. (I know, I'm ridiculous.) I'll even admit that I wear my jeans 2-3 (and sometimes more!) times before washing them. But even for someone like me, a new study claiming that washing clothes is unnecessary seems to have gone just a little too far.

According to The Daily Telegraph, a researcher in Australia, as part of her Master's thesis, did a laundry experiment that she hopes will challenge our society's fixation on 'extreme clean.'

She found thirty volunteers to wear a pair of jeans five days a week for three months without washing them. About half made it through the entire study, with some choosing to stop washing other items, like t-shirts and blouses, during the study.

The researcher found that while many of the jeans had stains of all kinds, they passed a 'sniff test', telling the Daily Telegraph, "The jeans don't smell socially challenging. They just smell like people."

I suppose there's the 'green factor' to consider: study participants saved money on water, electricity, and laundry detergent, but regardless of smell, I don't think I'll be giving up on doing laundry anytime soon. Stains are just not cute!!
