Howell resident Gregory White, who is an active serviceman, and his wife, who is seven months pregnant and their three children (ages 6, 4 and 2) have lost everything.

What started as a "funky smell" in his house according to White, turned into a full on blaze.

Reports state a “tremendous amount” of firefighters responded quickly to the house fire on Cascades Ave, which started around 10:30 p.m. on December 30. By 2 a.m. emergency responders were leaving the scene.

The fire, which remains under investigation, destroyed the house and everything in it. The Howell Township council issued a letter that said PAL was asking the community to help the fire victims.

“Howell PAL is calling upon township residents to band together in an effort to make this an easier rebuilding process for the family,” the letter said. “Donations such as clothes, household goods, gift cards or money will be greatly appreciated.”

Clothes that are needed are for a 6-year-old girl, size 8, a 4-year-old boy, size 5/6, a 2-year-old girl, size 3T, and a woman who is in late-term pregnancy.

A Go Fund Me site has also been setup for the family.

Donations can be dropped off at Howell PAL, located at 115 Kent Rd. in the former Southard School on Friday and any other weekday after that from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Donations can also be dropped off at Town Hall in the manager’s office, located at 4567 Route 9 North. Town Hall is open Jan. 1 from noon to 3 p.m. and regular business hours.
