In Monmouth County there have been 6,781 positive cases as of Saturday morning May 9 with Freehold Township having the most followed by Howell and Middletown, as reported by Monmouth County Freeholders Tom Arnone and Sue Kiley.

Here are some of the Jersey Shore Covid-19 stories that made News this week:

  • Ocean County will continue to offer residents testing for the coronavirus at the drive thru testing site at Ocean County College during the week of May 11 but with less hours for testing which will still be done by appointment on Monday, Wednesdays and Fridays. The new hours will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on those days. All other requirements remain the same.
  • The 99 parishes across the catholic Diocese of Trenton (Burlington, Mercer, Monmouth and Ocean) are opening up their doors to the 730,000 community of believers for private prayer ONLY beginning on May 13 (the Feast of Our Lady of Fatima) and in accordance with public health guidelines, Bishop David O'Connell announced on Friday.
  • The New Jersey Office of Emergency Management is reporting a rise in the amount of 911 medical calls being made during the Covid-19 pandemic. The Monmouth County Sheriff's Office Emergency Operations Center, Ocean Township Police and Lacey Township Police are among those seeing a spike in calls.
  • Summer in Ocean County won't be like it has been in years past due to the pandemic and it's already having an impact on people whose busy working season occurs between Memorial Day and Labor Day, including Lifeguards.
