Hit-and-run driver wanted in fatal pedestrian crash in Toms River

Toms River police and the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office are looking for a driver of a newer blue Infinity sedan wanted for allegedly leaving the scene of a fatal accident Tuesday night. The vehicle is believed to have heavy front end damage, according to authorities. The following photos are 2014 and 2016 Infinity Q50 models provided by the Prosecutor's Office.
A 34-year-old Dover Woods resident identified as John Ekarius, was killed on Route 70 West, near the Routes 9 Bridge shortly after 10:00 p.m., also was struck by two other vehicles that stopped, according to Police Department Spokesman Ralph Stocco.
The unidentified victim was pronounced dead at 11:30 p.m.
A plastic piece of a front bumper approximately 16"x16" was located at the scene, according to Toms River Police Mitch Little.
