I am the first to admit that I have trouble traveling without all of my creature comforts. But now I can't even take a carry-on bag onto the plane without paying a hundred bucks?!

I used to brag about taking a certain discount airline out of Atlantic City to Florida because of the great airfare...sometimes under $20!

Oh, you can still get the cheap airfare. But now they want to charge a hundred dollars for putting a carry-on bag in the overhead bin beginning in November. (Bags that can fit under your seat are still free).

I mean, just the magazines and books alone fill one carry-on bag that will fit under the seat. And that's not counting my pocketbook. But then there's stuff for the kids and other emergency items and valuables that I don't want to put in my luggage after having one too many lost or misplaced luggage experiences.

I guess the question becomes more about how much you need near you on an airplane to feel comfortable enough that you could make it in an emergency (like three hours stuck on a runway or your luggage ending up in another state.)

Guess I never was able to travel light.
