A very popular grocery store that Ocean County residents have been asking for will be opening soon.

Lidl discount grocery stores have been popping up across Monmouth and Ocean counties, with the Howell location opening its doors last week.

Thankfully, the next Lidl will be taking over the eyesore that is the old Cost Cutters in the Riverwalk at Brick shopping center. I was beginning to think that space would be vacant forever!

According to APP,  Lidi has asked the township for a sign variance to allow signs to be hung on the building. No word on the target opening date.

What makes Lidi different from other grocery stores? Lidls are much smaller than your average supermarket. They offer the essentials but also feature items like toys, clothing, and appliances that are rotated out every week.

The 25,000 square foot space is ideal for a store like this.
