Over the next several days there are some key girls basketball matchups, ones that will impact division races and Shore & State rankings.

Matchups of the Week  1/30 to 2/5

Monday 1/30

#6 Rumson (12-7) at #5 Trinity Hall (17-2) 5:30
Rumson continues to play one of the hardest schedules in the state as they face Trinity Hall, who is ranked in the Top 20 in NJ. This game will see two All Shore players face off in Rumson’s Julia Corsentino and Trinity Hall’s Nina Emnace. Rumson junior guard, Raquel Guidetti, has been playing her best basketball the last couple of weeks and will be a big factor in this matchup.

Barnegat (11-8) at Central Regional (12-6) 6:30
Central Regional needs to win to finish as co-champs in B South with Manchester. Barnegat will once again try to play spoiler and improve on SCT seeding with a win over Central Regional. Central won the first game 50-45 behind senior Kelsey DiMichele’s 17 points. Barnegat is led by senior Cara McCoy and sophomore Emma Thornton, who is averaging a double double this season.

Tuesday 1/31

#8 Shore Regional (16-2) at #9 Ocean Township (17-1) 5:30
The game that will determine C South. Shore was able to defeat Ocean 38-32 a couple weeks ago and could have had a leg up on Ocean if not for a lost against Monmouth Regional. Ocean has since picked up two big wins that came down to the last seconds of the game. They defeated #10 rank Cherokee with a 3-pointer at the buzzer and was able to come back from trailing by six points in the final minute against Wall on Saturday.

Wednesday 2/1

Holmdel (13-6) at #7 Toms River North (13-2) 6:30
TRN’s only two losses this season has come to teams ranked in the Top 20 in NJ, Shawnee and Manasquan. Junior Megan Sias has shown why she is one of the best in the Shore since returning from a season ending injury last year, averaging a double-double. Holmdel will look to rebound after losing to the top 2 teams in the Shore, SJV and RBC last week.

Thursday 2/2

#4 Manasquan (15-4) at #5 Trinity Hall (17-2) 5:30
Trinity Hall will play its second of three ranked teams in the week against Manasquan. This game will have an impact on the SCT seedings that come out on Saturday. Manasquan will look to pick up another win against a ranked opponent to move into the top 3 for the SCT.

Freehold Township (6-8) at Freehold Boro (6-10) 4:00
Both teams have young teams this season with Freehold Twp being led by sophomore Gaby Parker averaging 15 points a game and Freehold Boro being led by sophomore Christina Sikara averaging 14 points a game.

#2 RBC (18-1) at #3 St. Rose (16-3) 5:30
A possible preview for the SCT semifinals, RBC faces one of their hardest tests of the season the day before SCT cut off. RBC is one of the toughest teams to game plan for with all their options on offense. Someone different steps up every game and their freshman class has played a lot of important minutes this season. St. Rose will look to show they are still one of the top teams in the Shore even with senior Maggie Cavanaugh out with an injury.

Friday 2/3

Point Boro (4-13) at Point Beach (15-2) 4:00
The battle of Point Pleasant will be much closer then what the records show. Point Boro plays in one of the toughest divisions in the Shore and have been tested all year. Point Beach clinched B Central last week with a win over Keansburg and will look to show they are the top school in Point Pleasant.

Saturday 2/4

#3 St. Rose (16-3) at #5 Trinity Hall (17-2) 4:00
Both teams end the regular season with very tough games, facing Top 10 opponents to get their teams ready for SCT. Trinity will play three ranked opponents this week while St. Rose plays two ranked teams in the Shore and one Top 5 team in NJ.
