The 2024 Presidential Election has proven to be one of the most divisive election seasons in the last 25 years. There are political divides across age groups, economic classes, and different regions of the country when it comes to people's beliefs about the future of the United States.

A common theme over the decades is that older Americans are usually more engaged Politically. That demographic typically seeks out information more often than those who are younger.

According to a survey done by YouGov and CBS News, less than 50 percent of Americans under 30 years old think about the 2024 Election. But over two-thirds of Americans age 45 and up admit to thinking a lot about this year's Presidential Election.

However, when the research team at Seniorly.com gathered data from studies by YouGov, CBS News, and AmeriCorps, they found that senior citizens living in certain states are more politically engaged than others in America.

How Does New Jersey Seniors Compare To The Rest of The United States

The team at Seniorly ranked all 50 states in America plus the District of Columbia for what Seniors are the Most and Least Politically Engaged.  New Jersey is ranked the third-worst Politically Engaged Seniors in the United States.

New Jersey has the second-lowest percentage of Seniors who discuss social issues with friends and family (52.8%) and the fewest seniors have contacted elected officials (7.2%). Only 61.3% of New Jersey Seniors voted in the 2023 General Election, which is 12th lowest in America.

None of New Jersey's neighboring states have seniors who are any more politically engaged . Both Pennsylvania and New York are ranked middle of the pack for Best and Worst Politically Engaged Seniors. Only 49.1 percent of Delaware Senior Citizens voted in the 2023 General Election.
